Nestled above the Shenandoah valley near the Skyline Drive is the Luray KOA Kountry Waye in Luray, Virginia.
KOA now sports three types of campgrounds. Journey, Holiday and Resort. Each one adding another layer of comfort for the simple camper to the more luxurious "glamper"
This particular KOA is a Holiday, what they call "The Gateway To The Outdoors.
Large clean campsites, either pull through, back in, or pull up to patios are equipped with water, electric, sewer and (spotty) wifi. Be prepared for renting movies or just plan visiting with the family as there is no cable hookup and antenna reception is minimal.
A nice sized pool and dog park. Tent sites are available as well. We were there the week of July 4th during a heat wave with two AC's running and the campground, virtually full, didn't miss a beat. Nearby are wineries, some cute towns, and of course the Luray Caverns.
Moonshadows Restaurant
Dining can be a bit tricky but you MUST visit Moonshadows Restaurant on East Main in Luray.  Owned by John (Chef) and Maureen (General Manager) Moss this place sports a wide menu as well as indoor and outdoor seating. So good we went back a second time.

Our Pull Through Site

Our pull through space allowed us to easily hook and unhook our toad right on site but check first before you do to be sure you have the room. All in all, except for the few (ok numerous) flies from the cow farm next door, and the unfortunate heat wave it was a most relaxing time and we definitely recommend KOA Luray.
